Employer News :Aon and Network Rail Collaborate on Cutting-Edge Recruitment Tools to Identify Talent for Critical Rail Roles

London, April 14, 2025 – global business of professional services Aon has established a partnership with Network network To create personalized recruitment and evaluation tools aimed at identifying the best talents for critical safety roles, including the pivotal position of the rail signaller.

Network Rail, which oversees 20,000 miles of tracks and infrastructure across Great Britain, employs around 42,000 people. Keeping the country's railways to move safely and effectively requires precision, rapid decision -making and resilience, in particular for signalers, which play a vital role in the control and safety of trains.

To improve its hiring and retention strategies, Network Rail turned to Aon to design realistic assessment tools that offer candidates a clear overview of work and its responsibilities. The initiative is part of a wider recruitment overhaul which also covers graduate and apprentices programs, customer service teams and director of levels.

One of the main innovations is an assessment solution for tailor -made signals. The tool simulates the scenarios of the real world, helping both the employer and the candidates to understand if they are adapted to the requirements of the role.

Tiina ConacherAssessment leader at Network Rail, said new tools are already making a significant difference.

“These evaluations are invaluable, in particular for signaling roles where no prior experience is required,” she said. “We are looking for potential, not just CVs – and the tools that AON provides allows us to assess the capacity of a candidate to prosper in this unique environment and to security.”

Conacher noted that the tools are designed to reveal basic skills similar to those necessary in other sectors of high responsibility such as aviation. “With more than 25,000 requests per year for volume roles, we are counting on predictive assessments to help us make enlightened decisions quickly and efficiently.”

Collaboration has also extended to new materials for evaluation centers and expanded tools in a wide range of hiring needs.

Rhys ConnollyCommercial director of assessment at Aon UK, said their partnership with Network Rail shows how tailor -made solutions can meet modern recruitment challenges.

“This is a period of change for the rail sector, and the importance of robust and reliable recruitment processes cannot be overestimated,” said Connolly. “Our goal was to provide network rail tools that guarantee confidence in each hiring. The confidence they have placed in us to continue this work shows the value of our shared commitment to identify the right people for vital roles. ”

As the rail industry is evolving, the partnership between Aon and Network Rail establishes new standards in hiring practices, those that put security, relevance and long -term success at the heart of recruitment.
