Employers were evaluated using the benchmark for workers' families and were noted in four key areas to build a complete image of their flexible and family policies and practices that specifically support parents and caregivers. These areas include:
- Integration into organizational strategy and culture – who examines culture, attitude and how far flexible and family work practices have become integrated;
- Policy – who examines the creation, development and deployment of flexible and family working policies and their adoption;
- Coherent practice – who considers how supported flexible and family work is; And
- Evidence and statistics – which examines the effects of flexible and family work on organization and their ability to understand these effects.
